- Dave Meltzer discussed the Universal Championship Match on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and said that WWE is going with a three-way at The Royal Rumble event next month for the Universal Championship. Meltzer said it was Vince McMahon’s call and unless things change last minute, that will be the match at The Rumble next month.
Meltzer speculated that WWE didn’t want to have Braun or Brock get pinned right now, which is why they didn’t do a singles match between the two. Kane was added to the match so that he can take the pinfall.
