Now, thanks to local ads in Melbourne, Australia, we know what he will be doing on the show. According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, the ads in Melbourne are promoting that Michaels will be the special referee for Taker vs. Triple H.
This is playing off the Taker vs. Triple H match from Wrestlemania 28 when HBK was the referee. This time, the story appears to be that Michaels is going to lean heavily on Triple H’s side and his bias for his friend would stack the odds for Taker.
Some of the things said during the in-ring segment got people wondering if all of this is leading towards Michaels coming out of retirement for one more match, perhaps at the show in Saudi Arabia in November or at WrestleMania. I’m sure that the “special referee” announcement will only add more fuel to those rumors.
