With no Kevin Owens or New Day ringside after Big E was attacked backstage, the two superstars went at it with all they had, and both Kingston and Zayn showed absolutely no love lost between the two of them. However, it was Kingston that came away with the win, but couldn’t enjoy it after some chaotic events unfolded.
After winning the match, Paul Heyman came out to tease Kingston about the possibility of Brock Lesnar cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase. With Kingston distracted, Dolph Ziggler surprised the crowd by returning to SmackDown Live, taking down Kingston and delivering a brutal beating on the WWE Champion. Ziggler tossed Kingston outside of the ring, attacked him with a steel chair, and eventually left Kingston so damaged that he had to be stretched out of the arena, although Kingston was able to stand up on his own and leave after some time.
