The northern region of Lombardy (about 16 million people) is now set to quarantine as announced at 11pm CET (5pm ET), and a new decree containing draconian measures would be approved later this Sunday. The decree provides for banning all public events, closing cinemas, theatres, gyms, discos and pubs. Religious ceremonies such as funerals and weddings will also be banned.
As for the wrestling news, fans attending meet and greets at NXT Florida shows will not be shaking hands with wrestlers.
Wrestling photographer and historian JJ Williams regularly attends wrestling shows in Florida and tweeted about the new policy, obviously being implemented in the name of safety for the fans and wrestlers after news reports of coronavirus cases in the state.
Williams tweeted, “NXT Florida has implemented a no touching policy for Meet & Greets. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the format for Axxess this year. Can’t be too careful.”
As of this writing, WWE is still moving forward with WrestleMania plans in Tampa but I wouldn’t be surprised to see some security measures implemented for the fans. It was not said that coronavirus was the reason but The Bella Twins have pulled out of their WrestleMania Axxess session and it would not surprise me to see others pull out as well.
