Roode was on the show to answer the Open Challenge issued by WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. The return of Roode was played up like it was Dolph Ziggler’s idea. Earlier in the show, Ziggler was seen in the back talking to Adam Pearce with an idea on who could challenge McIntyre. Ziggler appeared later in the show to announced that Roode would be the person answering the Open Challenge.
After a good match, Roode hit McIntyre with a Glorious DDT for a near fall. McIntyre reversed another Glorious DDT and hit a Claymore for the win.
Roode has been out of action for several months, believed to be because of issues getting out of Canada because of travel restrictions.
Robert Roode has been one of the names rumored to be returning to NXT but his return to Raw could mean that WWE has other plans for TakeOver: 31 where the mystery partner is scheduled to appear.
