Shayna Andrea Baszler is an American professional wrestler and former mixed martial artist, currently signed to WWE where she first performs on the NXT brand. She was the first woman to hold the NXT Title more than once.

Baszler is particularly known for her modified kimura handlock which she has named “Shwing” and has used to defeat several of her opponents, including former FFF Women's Lightweight Champion Roxanne Modafferi. A South Dakota native, Baszler became a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt and Khun Kru in the Muay Thai boxing association, before starting to train in catch wrestling under MMA legend Josh Barnett who gave her the nickname ‘The Queen of Spades’. In 2003, she made her professional debut at a Reality Cage Fighting event in a match against Tina Johnson, which she won. In the following few years, she also fought for Ring of Fire, Elite XC, Strikeforce, Freestyle Cage Fighting and eventually for UFC, presently holding the record of 15 wins and 11 losses. Baszler began her career as a professional wrestler in 2015 and quickly garnered a positive reputation in the independent circuit.

She debuted in WWE in July 2017 as a participant in that year’s Mae Young Classic defeating Zeda in the first round. The following day, Baszler defeated Mia Yim, Candice LeRae, and Mercedes Martinez en route to the final. On September 12, Baszler was defeated in the final of the tournament by Kairi Sane.

Baszler made her NXT debut at a house show on August 10, 2017, where she teamed with Billie Kay and Peyton Royce; they faced the team of Kairi Sane, Aliyah, and Dakota Kai in a losing effort. On August 12, she made her singles debut, defeating Zeda. On October 3, WWE officially announced that Baszler had signed with the company and started training at the WWE Performance Center. On the December 6 episode of NXT, a vignette aired teasing Baszler's televised debut.

She made her televised debut by attacking Kairi Sane on December 27, and her televised in-ring debut on the episode aired January 10, 2018, defeating Dakota Kai by referee stoppage. Afterward, Baszler continued to attack Kai until NXT Women's Champion Ember Moon made the save. That led to a title match at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia on January 27, where Moon defeated Baszler to retain the title, but was attacked by Baszler afterwards. Baszler received another title match against Moon at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans on April 7, where Baszler defeated Moon by technical submission to win the title.

On the May 30 episode of NXT, Baszler successfully defended her title against Dakota Kai. She then began a feud with Nikki Cross, culminating in a match at NXT TakeOver: Chicago II, where Baszler defeated Cross by technical submission to retain the title. Baszler then lost the title to Kairi Sane at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4, ending her reign at 133 days.

At Evolution, she defeated Sane in a rematch, becoming the first-ever two-time NXT Women's Champion. Baszler went on to successfully defend her title against Sane at NXT TakeOver: WarGames, Bianca Belair at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix and in a fatal four-way against Sane, Belair and Io Shirai at NXT TakeOver: New York, submitting Belair with a Kirifuda Clutch. Baszler would then feud with Shirai, retaining her title against Shirai at NXT TakeOver: XXV and on the June 26 episode of NXT in a steel cage match to end the feud. At NXT TakeOver: Toronto, she successfully defeated Mia Yim to retain her title. On the October 2 episode of NXT, Baszler successfully retained her title against Candice LeRae. On the November 1 episode of SmackDown, Baszler was the first NXT wrestler to invade the show, when she attacked SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley, Sasha Banks and Nikki Cross. Later that night, Baszler joined Triple H and the rest of the NXT roster as they declared war on both Raw and SmackDown, and vowed to win the Survivor Series brand warfare.

At NXT TakeOver: WarGames, Baszler and her team lost against Rhea Ripley and her team in the first ever women's Wargames match. At Survivor Series, Baszler won the triple threat champions match against Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley to win Survivor Series for the NXT brand. On the December 18 episode of NXT, Baszler lost the championship to Ripley, ending her reign at 416 days, making her the sixth longest reigning women's champion after Sensational Sherri's reign of 441 days. On the January 1 episode of NXT, Shayna Baszler earned the Female Competitor Award in NXT.

Personal Life

Shayna Baszler is the daughter of Skip and Margaret Baszler. Her father is of German descent, while her mother is of Chinese descent. Baszler majored in religion at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas before beginning her mixed martial arts training.

Baszler was a key spokesperson in the movement to create a South Dakota athletic commission for combat sports. She once delivered a speech that touched opposing Rep. Steve Hickey, who once labeled MMA as the "child porn" of sports. After visiting Baszler at the Next Edge Academy of Martial Arts, the training place of Baszler, as well as other mixed martial arts fighters and practitioners, Hickey stated he regretted his analogy as it detracted from his point which, for him, remained true.

Baszler is also a coach for the South Dakota-based roller derby team, the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz. She is a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Childhood & Early Life

Ronda Rousey was born in Riverside, California, on February 1, 1987. Her mother AnnMaria De Mars was an accomplished judoka who was the first U.S. citizen, male or female, to win a World Judo Championship. Her father Ron Rousey was a soldier.

Tragedy struck the family when her father who had been injured in a sledding accident was told that he would be a paraplegic. Unable to bear the burden of his disability, he committed suicide. Ronda was just eight years old at the time of his death and this incident affected her profoundly. Her mother later on remarried an aerospace engineer.

Ronda struggled in school and was having problems focusing on her studies. Her mother persuaded her to learn judo believing that it would provide a vent for the girl’s frustrations. Her mother became her first coach and made Ronda train really hard.

She was named to the United States Olympic team at age 15. So she dropped out of high school at 16 and later earned a G.E.D. At the age of 17 she qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, becoming the youngest judoka in the entire Games.

Career

She could not win a medal in the 2004 Olympics though she won a gold medal at the World Junior Judo Championships in Budapest, Hungary, and also at the Pan American Judo Championships the same year.

In 2006, she claimed the gold at the Birmingham World Cup in Great Britain, and also defended her Pan American Judo Championship title. Later the same year, she went on to win the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships, becoming the first U.S. athlete ever to win two Junior World medals.

Her performance as a judoka touched new heights in 2007. Not only was she now ranked among the top three women in the world in the 70 kg category, she also grabbed the gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games. The same year, she won the silver medal at the 2007 World Judo Championships in the middleweight division.

She participated in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. There she lost the quarterfinal to Dutch Edith Bosch, but eventually ended up earning a Bronze medal after she qualified for another match through the repechage bracket. This victory ensured that she became the first American to win an Olympic medal in women's judo since its inception as an Olympic sport in 1992.

She retired from judo after the 2008 Olympics. Initially she was unsure of what to do and spent some time working as a bartender. Eventually she joined the Glendale Fighting Club and made her amateur debut in mixed martial arts in August 2010 and emerged victorious by defeating Hayden Munoz by submission due to an armbar in 23 seconds.

She amassed several other amateur victories over the next several months and had a perfect 3-0 record in amateur MMA competition. She went on to make her professional mixed martial arts debut in March 2011 at King of the Cage: Turning Point where she defeated Ediane Gomes with an armbar in 25 seconds.

Ronda Rousey made her Strikeforce debut against Sarah D'Alelio in August 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She easily defeated D’Alelio by technical submission due to an armbar early in the first round.

She then challenged Miesha Tate, the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion at the time, for her title. Their match was much publicized as the professional rivalry between the two women was well-known.

The fight took place on 3 March, 2012, in Columbus, Ohio. Rousey defeated Tate by submission due to an armbar in the first round to become the new Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion.

Rousey defended her Strikeforce title against Sarah Kaufman at Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman in August 2012 in San Diego, California, and quickly submitted her with an armbar in just 54 seconds to retain the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Championship.

She was challenged for her title by Alexis Davis in the co-main event at UFC 175 in July 2014. Rousey went on to win the fight via knockout just 16 seconds into the first round.

A match between Rousey and Cat Zingano was scheduled to take place at UFC 182 for the women's bantamweight title. However, the fight was moved to February 28, 2015, at UFC 184. Rousey defeated Zingano with an armbar in 14 seconds, the shortest match in UFC championship history.

Rousey fought Bethe Correia on August 1, 2015, in Brazil, at UFC 190, winning the bout by knockout 34 seconds into the first round.[84] Rousey dedicated the match to "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, who died the day before, commenting that Piper was one of her inspirations and had endorsed her use of his nickname.

In her seventh title defense, Rousey faced Holly Holm in the main event at UFC 193 on November 15, 2015. Despite being a heavy betting favorite, Rousey was unable to get Holm to the ground and had no answer for Holm's superior striking. Early in the second round, Holm knocked Rousey out with a high kick to the neck, ending Rousey's three-year reign as champion. It was also her first loss. After the fight, Rousey and Holm were each awarded a Fight of the Night bonus of $50,000. She was also medically suspended by UFC on November 18, 2015, which included a no-contact suspension for 45-days, and no fights for 60-days, and would have to depend on CT scan results to have the suspension reduced. She was medically cleared on December 9, 2015.

After over a year away from the sport, Rousey returned to face current champion Amanda Nunes on December 30, 2016, in the main event at UFC 207. She lost the fight via TKO due to punches at just 48 seconds into the first round. Rousey had no answer to Nunes’ straight and overhand shots. Sports columnist Martin Rogers wrote, "Even with all that time to recuperate and prepare, Rousey did not learn an effective jab, the first and most basic tenet of boxing, one of MMA’s core disciplines."

Rousey made her WWE debut at The Royal Rumble on January 28, 2018, confronting Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair, and Asuka, who had just won the inaugural women's Royal Rumble match.

Rousey's first wrestling match was at WrestleMania 34 in a mixed tag team match with Kurt Angle as her partner, against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. Rousey gave her team the win by submitting McMahon.

On May 14, it was revealed that after being challenged by Raw Women's Champion Nia Jax, the two would compete for the title at Money in the Bank. At the event, she would go on to win the match by disqualification via interference by Alexa Bliss, therefore not winning the title.

The next night on Raw, Rousey was suspended for 30 days after she attacked Bliss, Kurt Angle and multiple officials.

Rousey returned from her suspension on July 15 at Extreme Rules, attacking Bliss. The next night on Raw, Rousey's suspension was extended another week by Kurt Angle, however, Angle said that if Rousey honored the suspension, she would receive a Raw Women's Championship match against Bliss at SummerSlam. At the event on August 19, Rousey squashed Bliss to win the title, her first championship win in WWE. In a rematch between the two that took place a month later on September 16 at Hell in a Cell, Rousey once again submitted Bliss.

In 2019, on the March 4 episode of Raw, Rousey turned heel for the first time in her career when she cut a promo on fans and attacked both Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. At Fastlane, Lynch faced Flair in a match where if Lynch won, she would be inserted back into the Raw Women's Championship match at WrestleMania 35. Rousey attacked Lynch during the match, giving Lynch the disqualification victory and thus the WrestleMania triple-threat match between Rousey, Flair and Lynch was made official. On March 25, WWE announced Rousey's title defense against Lynch and Flair would be the main event of WrestleMania 35, making it the first women's match to close WrestleMania. At the event, in what was changed to a Winner takes all for Rousey's Raw and Flair's SmackDown Women's Championships, Lynch controversially pinned Rousey to win both titles. The commentary and production team commented that Rousey was in the ring saying her shoulders were not down for the full three-count and showed a replay of the ending pin-pointing this fact. Many fans and media were left wondering if this was a legitimate botched finish or if it was booked to end that way. Nonetheless, this gave Rousey her first loss in WWE and ended her championship reign at 232 days, making her the current longest-reigning Raw Women's Champion.

In April, Rousey announced she was taking some time off to recover from injuries and make a family. In August, Rousey joined the Cast of Total Divas Season 9 which premiered on October 9.

Career

Martinez had been attending shows by Big Time Wrestling, a professional wrestling promotion in Northern California, since she was 11. In 2008, she started her professional wrestling career at the age of 18, by attending Big Time Wrestling's training classes by her head trainer Jason Styles, which was one of the reasons why Martinez considered Big Time Wrestling as her home promotion. Rose wrestled for Big Time Wrestling from 2008 to 2012. Between 2011 and 2012, Rose branched out to wrestle for other promotions such as NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, Pro Wrestling Destination and Shine Wrestling.

In October 2010, Rose first met her mentor Serena when they teamed together for a tag team match. In October 2011, Rose made her debut for Shimmer Women Athletes at the tapings of Shimmer Volume 41–44, she became embroiled in Serena's feud with the Canadian Ninjas (Portia Perez and Nicole Matthews). At the tapings, Rose lost all four matches wrestled including her debut match to Mercedes Martinez. In 2012, Rose continued to wrestle for Shimmer and she received her first victory on Volume 48 as she teamed with Mia Yim to defeat Melanie Cruise and Mena Libra; on Volumes 51 and 52, Rose picked up her first two singles victories in Shimmer with wins over Cherry Bomb and Rhia O'Reilly.

In December 2012, it was reported that Martinez had signed with WWE. In January 2013, Martinez made her debut for WWE's developmental territory NXT at a live event, wrestling under a mask. She then adopted the ring name Bayley and made her NXT television debut in a loss to Paige on the March 20 episode.

On June 12, Bayley adopted a new character of a doe-eyed fangirl, then lost to Alicia Fox in the first round of the NXT Women's Championship tournament to crown the inaugural champion. On August 21, Bayley unsuccessfully challenged AJ Lee for the Divas Championship. Bayley got her first win, by teaming with Charlotte against Alicia Fox and Aksana on September 4.

In August 2015, after defeating Charlotte Flair, Bayley defeated Becky Lynch to become the new number one contender for the NXT Women's Championship. On August 22 at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, Bayley defeated Sasha Banks to win the NXT Women's Championship for the first time, and after the match she celebrated with Banks, Lynch and Charlotte. In a rematch between the two, contested in the main event at NXT TakeOver: Respect on October 7, in the first ever women's 30-minute Iron Man match in WWE history, Bayley defeated Banks with three falls to two after securing the third fall with three seconds left in the match to retain the championship. Throughout her championship reign, Bayley went on to fend off title contenders such as Alexa Bliss, Eva Marie, Nia Jax and Carmella.

In 2016, at NXT TakeOver: Dallas, Bayley lost the championship to Asuka, ending her reign at 223 days. On the July 27 episode, Bayley asked NXT general manager William Regal for a rematch against Asuka for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II, which he granted. At the event on August 20, Bayley failed to regain the title, in what was her final match in NXT.

On July 24, at Battleground, Bayley made her WWE main roster and pay-per-view debut in a one-off appearance as Sasha Banks' mystery tag team partner, defeating Charlotte and Dana Brooke. On the August 22 episode of Raw, Bayley made her official main roster debut after being established as part of the brand by Raw general manager Mick Foley.

At Clash of Champions, Bayley was unsuccessful in winning the championship from Charlotte in a triple threat match, which also included Banks. On January 2, 2017, Bayley defeated Jax to become the number one contender for Flair's Raw Women's Championship. She challenged Flair at the Royal Rumble but was unsuccessful in capturing the title. She earned a rematch after she, Cesaro and Sheamus defeated Flair, Gallows and Anderson the next night on Raw, with Bayley pinning Flair. Two weeks later on the February 13 episode, Bayley defeated Flair in the main event to win the Raw Women's Championship after an assist from Banks.

At Fastlane, Bayley retained the title against Charlotte thanks to a distraction from Banks and in turn gave Charlotte her first pay-per-view loss.  At WrestleMania 33 in Bayley's WrestleMania debut, she retained the title against Charlotte, Banks and Jax in a fatal four-way elimination match. On April 30, Bayley dropped the title to Bliss at Payback, ending her reign at 76 days. She failed to regain the title in a kendo stick on a pole match at Extreme Rules on June 4. In July 2017, Bayley again became the number one contender for the championship and was slated to face Bliss at SummerSlam on August 20, but she suffered a separated shoulder injury which left her unable to perform.[76] Bayley returned from her injury on the September 18 episode of Raw to help Banks fend off Bliss and Jax. At No Mercy six days later, she lost a fatal five-way match for the Raw Women's Championship.

On January 28, 2018, at the Royal Rumble, Bayley competed in the inaugural women's Royal Rumble match, but was quickly eliminated by her best friend, Banks. A few weeks later, on February 25 at Elimination Chamber, Bayley took part in the first women's Elimination Chamber match, where she was eliminated by Alexa Bliss after Banks pushed her off a pod.

On the WrestleMania 34 kick-off show, Bayley competed in the inaugural WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal, where she got revenge by eliminating Banks, and was the last woman eliminated from the match by its winner, Naomi.

On the March 26 episode of Raw, after weeks of animosity, including Bayley betraying Banks during their matches, Bayley and Banks brawled backstage and had to be separated. The two faced off in mid-April but their match ended in a no-contest after The Riott Squad interfered and attacked them both. Throughout mid-2018, Bayley and Banks continued to attack each other, and were told to attend counselor meetings to help maintain their friendship. In July, the two reconciled and created a tag team, known as "The Boss 'n' Hug Connection".

On February 17, 2019, at the Elimination Chamber, Bayley and Banks won the inaugural WWE Women's Tag Team Championship by lastly eliminating Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville in a tag team Elimination Chamber match. At WrestleMania 35, they lost the titles in a Fatal 4-Way match when Bayley was pinned by Billie Kay ending their reign at 49 days.

During the Superstar Shake-up on April 16, 2019, Bayley was drafted to SmackDown, disbanding her team with Sasha Banks, who remained on Raw.[107] At The Shield's Final Chapter, Bayley teamed with Ember Moon to defeat The Riott Squad.[108]

On May 19, at Money in the Bank, Bayley won the women's Money in the Bank ladder match, granting her a women's championship match at any time of her choosing. Later that night, after Charlotte Flair defeated Becky Lynch to win the SmackDown Women's Championship, Lynch was attacked by Flair and Lacey Evans. Bayley came out to save Lynch and fended off both Flair and Evans. With Flair down, Bayley cashed-in her contract and won the SmackDown Women's Championship for the first time (thus quietly ending her friendship and also quietly disbanded her team with Banks). The win made her the first WWE Women's Grand Slam winner in WWE history.

On the September 2 episode of Raw, Bayley teamed with Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch to face off against WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross in a tag-team match, which they emerged victorious via disqualification after Bayley's former partner, Sasha Banks, interfered and attacked Lynch. When Banks was ready to hit Lynch with a steel chair, Bayley stopped her, before subsequently assaulting Lynch herself with the chair, thus turning heel for the first time in her WWE career. The following night on SmackDown, Bayley justified her assault on Lynch, explaining that she only helped Banks because of their friendship and still proclaimed she was the same person she'd always been and wouldn't change.

Bayley defended the title against Charlotte Flair two times, first retained at Clash of Champions after she used an exposed turnbuckle as leverage.and then, lost the title at Hell in a Cell, ending her reign at 140 days.

On the October 11 edition of SmackDown, Bayley debuted a new look, having cut off her ponytail and attacked the inflatable tube men during her entrance, then regained the title from Charlotte Flair. After the match, she verbally attacked the fans, solidifying her heel turn.

Charlotte Flair is an American professional wrestler, author, and actor. She is a second-generation wrestler in her family. Her father, Ric Flair, is known as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Ric and his then-wife, Elizabeth. Having a famous wrestler as her father had no special influence on the way she wanted her career to shape up. She was good at sports and excelled in basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics. However, while in university, she studied to become a personal trainer and then arrived in the ring as a wrestler. She signed with ‘World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.’ (WWE) in May 2012 and appeared on her first televised fight a year later, on ‘NXT,’ which saw her defeat Bayley. In July 2015, Charlotte was introduced to the ‘WWE’ main roster and had her first stint with ‘Raw.’ She then became the ‘WWE Divas Champion.’ From the very beginning, she exhibited her talent to become the most-feared female superstar on ‘Raw.’ In 2016, ‘Pro Wrestling Illustrated’ named her the ‘Woman of the Year’ and regarded her as the world’s top female professional wrestler. Since the beginning of her career, she has held six championship belts.

Childhood & Early Life

Charlotte Flair was born Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr, on April 5, 1986, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Ric Flair, a widely popular professional wrestler and his then-wife, Elizabeth. She had a younger brother, Reid, who died tragically in 2013. She has two older half-siblings, David and Megan.

Ric was absent during most of Charlotte’s childhood years, and as a result, she grew significantly distant from him. A few years after she was born, her parents got divorced. This affected Charlotte, and she had a troubled childhood. However, Ric did whatever he could to compensate for his absence. He visited her whenever he was in town.

When Charlotte told her classmates in school that she was the daughter of Ric Flair, many of them did not believe her. She used her father’s connections to help her bring Randy Savage, the famous wrestler, to her school to make her classmates believe her stories.

Charlotte did not initially like being part of her illustrious wrestling family. Her interest in fitness and sports led her to prepare to become a personal trainer. She was once a promising volleyball player. She graduated from ‘Providence High School’ and was the school volleyball team’s captain and the player of the year from 2004 to 2005. She was also part of the school team that won two ‘NCHSSA 4-A State Championships.’

She attended the ‘Appalachian State University’ (ASU) in North Carolina, where she played volleyball for two seasons. After two years at ‘ASU,’ she was transferred to ‘North Carolina State University,’ from where she finished her Bachelor of Science degree in public relations. Meanwhile, she also became a certified personal trainer.

Career

Before being professionally associated with ‘WWE,’ Charlotte had already made an appearance in the ring with her father. She was 13 years old when she appeared in the ring alongside Ric during his on-going feud with Vince Russo and David at a ‘World Championship Wrestling’ (WCW) event. In June 2000, at ‘The Great American Bash,’ she was at ringside along with her brother, Reid, while her father fought David in the ring. When Russo interfered, Charlotte and her brother attacked and handcuffed him.

Charlotte signed her first official developmental contract with ‘WWE’ in May 2012. She trained for a year and made her official in-ring debut in July 2013 in a singles match, which saw her defeat Bayley. A few months later, she formed a “tag team” with Bayley and successfully won many “tag team” matches. However, in November, she attacked Bayley and established herself as a villainess on ‘NXT.’

In May 2014, she earned her first championship title when she defeated Natalya in the finals of ‘NXT TakeOver.’ For the following few months, she continued with her feuds with Bayley, Summer Rae, and Paige. She managed to successfully defend her title in a one-on-one match against Summer Rae in July. In September, she defended her title again, against her arch-rival Bayley. However, she surprised the audiences when after defeating Bayley in an October rematch, she raised Bayley’s arm, hugged her, and shook hands with her.

In February 2015, she finally lost her title to Sasha Banks, in a fatal four-way match. Her other two opponents in the match were Becky Lynch and Bayley. In July 2015, she challenged Banks for a title match which was accepted by Banks. Banks easily defeated Charlotte to retain the title and raised Charlotte’s hand as a sign of respect. This ended the long feud between the two female wrestlers.

On the July 13 episode of ‘Raw,’ Lynch, Banks, and Charlotte were introduced to the main roster. In her pay-per-view debut, she participated in a triple threat match against Brie Bella and Sasha Banks. Charlotte won the match and became an instant fan favorite.

In a September match at ‘Night of Champions,’ Charlotte defeated Nikki Bella to win the ‘Divas Championship.’ Charlotte then defended her title three times against Paige in the following few months. Charlotte’s streak of being a fan favorite came to a halt when she faked a leg injury to defeat Lynch. Ric Flair also provided a distraction. This move was met with booing from the audiences.

Soon, a triple threat match was set up for ‘WrestleMania 32’ and included Charlotte, Banks, and Lynch, An announcement during the event declared that the ‘Divas Championship’ had been converted into the ‘WWE Women’s Championship.’ After an intense match, Charlotte won in her ‘WrestleMania’ debut.

Following her ‘WrestleMania’ victory, Charlotte began a rivalry with Natalya and successfully defended her title against her in April. In May, when her father interrupted one of her matches, she thrashed him publicly and said that she did not need him. In July, she lost her title to Sasha Banks.

However, in October, she snatched the title back from Banks during the first women’s ‘Hell in a Cell’ match. It was named as ‘Raw’s Women Championship’ when ‘SmackDown’ announced their version of the championship. She successfully defended the title many times before eventually losing it to Bayley in February 2017. She failed to regain it in March.

In April, Charlotte made her debut on ‘SmackDown.’ She initially confused the audiences by transforming herself from being villainous to heroic. In November 2017, she successfully won the ‘SmackDown Women’s Championship’ after defeating Natalya in a one-on-one match, becoming the first ever wrestler to win the Divas, NXT, Raw and SmackDown Women's titles.

At Fastlane on March 11, Charlotte retained the SmackDown Women's Championship against Ruby Riott. After the match, the inaugural women's Royal Rumble winner Asuka came to confront her and pointed towards the WrestleMania sign, confirming their match on April 8 at WrestleMania 34 for the SmackDown Women's Championship[152] which Flair retained by forcing Asuka to submit, ending Asuka's undefeated streak at 914 days.

On the April 10 episode of SmackDown Live, The IIconics (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay) attacked Flair amid a promo. Carmella subsequently used her Money in the Bank opportunity to defeat Charlotte and win the championship, ending her reign at 147 days.

On the July 31 episode of SmackDown Live, Flair returned to stop Carmella's attack on Becky Lynch. Later that night, Flair was added to the SmackDown Women's Championship match at SummerSlam after defeating Carmella, thus making the title match a triple threat also involving Becky Lynch. At Summerslam, Flair defeated Carmella and Becky Lynch to win the Smackdown Women’s Championship. After the match, she was attacked by Lynch, whom she pinned, thus ending their friendship and turning Lynch’s character heel for the first time since 2015. Four weeks later at Hell in a Cell, Flair lost the title to Lynch.

In November, Flair was picked by an injured Becky Lynch as her replacement in a match against Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series, where she lost via disqualification after brutally attacking Rousey with a kendo stick and a steel chair. The following month, on December 16 at the TLC pay–per–view, Flair competed in the first ever women's Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match against both Lynch and Asuka, who would go on to win the match after Rousey interfered and pushed both Flair and Lynch off a ladder.

At the 2019 Royal Rumble, Flair competed in her first women's Royal Rumble match, where she lasted 50:01 minutes and eliminated five women, tying the eliminations record set by Michelle McCool in 2018, before becoming the last woman eliminated by Lynch who ultimately won the match in the process.

In February, Vince McMahon replaced Lynch with Flair in Lynch's title match against Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania 35 after he suspended Lynch for 60 days in storyline. In March, Lynch was reinstated and she defeated Flair at Fastlane via disqualification, after Rousey purposely attacked Lynch to give her the win, making the title match at WrestleMania a triple threat match. Just a few weeks before WrestleMania 35, on the March 26 episode of SmackDown, Flair defeated Asuka to win the SmackDown Women's Championship for a third time, becoming the only woman in WWE history to have won eight women's championships. At the event, in what was the first time that women main evented a WrestleMania event, Flair lost her championship in a Winner takes all for both her SmackDown and Ronda Rousey's Raw Women's Championships when Lynch pinned Rousey to win both titles.

Shortly after WrestleMania, Flair continued her feud with Lynch over the SmackDown Women's Championship, as she implied that she had not been pinned or submitted to lose her title, and went onto defeat Bayley to earn herself a rematch for the title at Money in the Bank. At the event, Flair won the championship from Lynch after an interference by Lacey Evans who attacked Lynch with a Women's Right. After the match, the two continued to attack Lynch until Bayley making the save. Bayley, who had won the Money in the Bank briefcase, cashed-in on Flair and defeated her to end her reign at just 4 minutes and 52 seconds, Flair's shortest title reign of all time. Shortly after the Money in the Bank, Lynch was moved to the Raw roster and that officially put an end to the almost year-long feud between the two.

Charlotte entered in a short storyline with WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus that led to a match between the two at SummerSlam. At the event, Flair was able to submit Stratus in what was the latter's legit retirement match. With her win over Stratus, Flair felt that she deserved an opportunity at the SmackDown Women's Championship and that re-ignited the feud between Flair and Bayley. It was during this time that Flair quietly turned into a fan favorite once again, this time due to Bayley's reunion with Sasha Banks, which completed her heel turn. On September 15, at Clash of Champions, Bayley retained over Flair after she used an exposed turnbuckle as leverage. After she submitted Bayley during a tag team match (between Flair and Becky Lynch against Bayley and Banks), Flair earned herself a rematch which took place at the Hell in a Cell event, where Flair defeated Bayley to win her record-setting tenth women's championship.

On the October 11 episode of SmackDown, however, Flair dropped the title back to Bayley, thus ending Flair's fifth reign at only five days. On the October 14 episode of Raw, Charlotte was drafted back to the Raw brand during the second night of the 2019 Draft. At the TLC pay-per-view in December, she teamed with Becky Lynch to challenge The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match, but the two were unsuccessful. The match saw Sane suffering a legitimate concussion mid-match. In a later interview, Fliehr addressed Sane's injury, stating: "Obviously Kairi was hurt, but in the match I'm just thinking: 'How do we keep people invested?'"  On January 26, 2020 at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Flair entered the women's Royal Rumble match at No. 17 and went on to win the contest by eliminating Shayna Baszler.

Flair spent weeks teasing an announcement regarding her championship opponent at WrestleMania 36, leading to confrontations with NXT Women's Champion Rhea Ripley on Raw and NXT. At the NXT TakeOver: Portland PPV event on February 16, after Ripley retained her championship against Bianca Belair, Flair attacked Ripley from behind and accepted Ripley's challenge to face her for the NXT Women's Championship at WrestleMania 36, and later attacked Belair.

Personal Life

Charlotte Flair was in trouble with the law for allegedly assaulting a police officer on duty in 2008. Her then-boyfriend and her father were also involved in the matter. She was sentenced to 45 days in jail in September 2008. The sentence was later reduced to a supervised probation and a fine.

Charlotte married Riki Johnson in 2010 and got divorced a year later. She later revealed in her autobiography that Riki had physically assaulted her. In 2013, she married Thomas Lattimer. However, the couple divorced in 2015. Charlotte is currently dating WWE Superstar Andrade Almas.

She had a younger brother, Reid, who died of an accidental drug overdose in 2013.
